The Power of Words

One of the common marketing buzzwords these days is “content.” Content marketing is creating and sharing information that interests your audience using blogs, videos, newsletters, social media posts, and more. Sharing content is important to give your audience information that interests them.

When you share content, it’s even more important to follow some simple rules that will help your it make even more of an impact. Here are a few pointers to get you started.

  • Speak to your audience. Keep your audience in mind when you’re writing. What are your audience’s priorities? The things that are important to them? Be sure to include these front and center as you create your content to grab the attention of your audience.

  • Keep it simple. Use simple wording that your audience understands. Avoid industry jargon and acronyms. Keeping it simple will make it easier for your audience to read what you’ve created. Without jargon and acronyms that might be proprietary to your industry, you may expand your readership.

  • Include examples. Use examples that illustrate your point. This is especially useful if you’re discussing a more complicated concept.

  • Break it down. If you’re writing a longer article, break it down into chunks. You might want to use short paragraphs, bullets, lists, or another easily readable format. Make it easy to read to allow your readers to quickly understand the purpose of your article.

  • A picture is worth a thousand words. So is a video. Where possible, use visuals. Including a compelling photo, illustration, or video can highlight your point so much more quickly than many words ever could.
